Hate or love his movies, you have to admit Kevin Smith the human being is pretty cool. He was at 2007 Comic-Con doing a panel when a "fan" accosted him at the mic. And this, my friends, is the result. NSFW language and all that.

OK, Kevin Smith is great and all, but really. nothing he said was 'snappy' or witty. I don't know, it just seemed like all Kevin had to do was lower his voice, impersonate the guy for like a sentence and the whole crowd was eating out of his hand. I just wish people would stop sucking his dick everytime he opens his mouth.
Again, I am a Kevin Smith fan, but he should and could have done better on this clown.

That was about as witty as saying, "ummm, no YOU suck!" - which is to say, not witty at all.
I like Kevin Smith, but that was not clever.

I'm always dumbfounded by how Kevin Smith gets high praise for slinging 9th grade insults back at a person. When a person is rude to you, stooping to his level--or far below--isn't the applaudable reaction.

Clever or not he still honestly answered the question from an objective point of view before playing around with the guy for the crowd's amusement, which is something very few people would do. He does a lot of this type of stuff in An Interview with Kevin Smith 1 and 2, some of which is on youtube if anyone is interested.

The guy asking the question was a jerk off, but not entirely off base. As far as I can remember, Jersey Girl was the only film without any of the Kevin Smith regular characters in it. So Smith has made his hay rehashing a lot of old characters. Even then, they have all been part of one larger universe so...
Kevin did answer objectively and made some good points, but, while funny, I wouldn't say is response was particularly witty or clever.
However, since when did all humor have to be witty and clever? Sophomoric can (and does) work many times.
If nothing else he thought quick on his feet and didn't back down from the guy and even took a shot at himself (the man tits comment) Well played.

Regardless of everything, the last frame of the clip feels me with horror and curiosity. What exactly is that blob asking the next question? It makes the first question guy look like the Brad Pitt of the convention.
