Jul 2 2007Sunshine Extended Trailer - Fun With Death

Come on, don't act like you didn't know someone was getting burned alive in this movie.

Well folks, it's been a long weekend, so I'm just going to lube you up and ease you back into the swing of things with a couple trailers. First up, we've got an extended trailer for Sunshine, which, despite the title, actually looks kind of dark. On the plus side, it envisions humanity as being in danger of extinction when the sun begins to burn out, so we must've survived global warming. I'm saving the Earth, one day without pants at a time!

Americans should not see this trailer. It's incredibly, shamelessly spoilerific. Basically every plot point is given away. It's too good a film to be ruined by a trailer.

What about other countries? Do foreigners love spoilers?

Ah, I've seen this movie. I think it's pretty good, although it does kind of hint of "Event Horizon". But personally I like this movie because I just love space. Lots of it. Get out of my room, damn you.

Maybe pointing out that a horribly burned crew member thought to have died actually stows away on the space station and attempts to kill his crewmates wasn't the best way to go about this, true, but hell...I'll still see it.

I wonder if Danny Boyle is still determined to show penis in yet another one of his movies.

The film's already premiered in the rest of the world.

Smug foreigners.

Dammit!!! That looks like a good movie, and the trailer just gave EVERYTHING away. Everything.

Yup, saw this one when I was living in Sydney a few months ago. Gorgeous visually. Very event horizon and kinda underwhelming at the end when you finally understand what's going on.

This doesn't just have hints of 'event horizon' it has hints of about 50-70 years of scsience fiction cinema/literature. I dont think it's a bad thing though, it's handled and balanced amazingly.

This is one of my favourite movies this year if nothing else but for the visual awe.
