Jul 23 2007Stephen Chow to Play Kato?

The blogosphere (read "nerds") is up in arms about the news that Seth Rogen wants Stephen Chow to play Kato in the new Green Hornet movie he's writing.
Stephen Chow is both Asian and does kung fu, so I don't know what people are whining about.

Wow, that isn't Steven Chow. That's funny!
C'mon man, Even if they all look alike, he doesn't look anything like Chow.

Yeah, this guy in the picture is not Stephen Chow. Not even close.

Obviously this was a satirical piece attempting to tear down the racist American belief that all Asian people look the same. I applaud you, Mr. Iwatchstuff, I applaud you.

it's not that us "nerds" are up in arms over stephen chow doing the green hornet, it's that stephen chow is laughing his ass off right now that some two-bit hollywood actor thinks chow would actually play second fiddle to him in a movie. chow is GOD in asian. he ain't gonna be playing some fat guy's sidekick in a campy superhero movie jackass.

anon, who knows what Rogen's take could be? It could be done in a funny way like Big Trouble in Little China was, were the white guy is the de facto main character, but the asian guy is the one that does all the work.

Oh my god how can Stephen Chow play Kato. They need to dig up Bruce Lee's carcass perform some vodoo and have his zombie play Kato.

Give me a break. No one could ever replace Bruce. Ever. Especially a comedian. Your best bet is going to be trying to get a no name kid who is just a raw martial artist. Not even a really talented martial artist like Tony Jaa could fill those shoes.

I don't see what the big problem is. Stephen Chow is probably the best person to play Bruce Lee. He is a massive Bruce Lee fan and was the president of the Bruce Lee fan club for awhile. He will probably do the role justice.
