Variety reports that John Leguizamo has joined the cast of M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as a man escaping natural disaster with his family, with Leguizamo taking the role of his best friend. Now it's time to play the popular game, What's going to be up with John Leguizamo in The Happening?

1. He's some kind of god that is causing the very disaster they're fleeing.
2. He has some hidden power that can stop the disaster at the last minute.
3. He's a ghost.
4. He's an alien.
5. He's something far more obnoxiously convoluted.
6. He's something strange that will be obvious to you in the first five minutes, which you'll later brag to your friends about as a testament to both Shyamalan's poor direction and your own impressive deduction skills.
7. He's the pest.
8. He's obviously not seen Lady in the Water and has made a horrible career move.

Feel free to suggest your own.

Awww damn you. I had a brilliant collection of two cents to add to this up until I read #7. Please learn to stop your lists at #6 or before. Thank you in advance for your prompt action in correcting this.

The Bellyacher

Since the twist at the end only happens to the white leading characters, John will be the guy making Wahlberg second guess every decision.

if they could get john to reprise his role as "the pest" i'm sure it would make this usual Shyamalan crap-fest pure cinematic gold.

the sad part is i'm 95% serious.

9. at the end of the movie, we'll discover that Leguizamo is actually being played by Shyamalan, who doesn't understand that directing one, worthwhile thriller does not make you a good actor.

#9 He's taking over Wahlberg's identity, Single White Female style. At the last minute, the Natural Disaster will destroy him.

The natural disaster was dead the whole time!

All I know is that if it sucks, it'll be because those evil critics just don't understand the nature of storytelling.

All these negative comments... I don't know about you but this movie seems interesting. Maybe it'll be something like a sci-fi action thriller. I read a brief synopsis from a previous page and it doesn't sound bad at all... the better thing, for me at least, is that Leguizamo is coming out with a mini-series as a bank robber and Donnie Wahlberg as the negotiator. It'll be an interesting series. It's going to be airing on Spike TV on July 22nd @ 9pm. I know this because I work with them and I have to say that after watching the previews, I will definately watch this myself. For previews, you can check http://killpoint.spiketv.com!

All of M. Night Shyamalan movies seem interesting in a synopsis, however it’s the execution that kills a good idea.

#10 He's a coyboy vampire.

Of course I *meant* to say "cow"boy vampire, damnit.

#9:
Leguizamo is the real father of Wahlberg's children.
#10:
Leguizamo get's in Wahlberg's way, endangering his family, is banished for a bit by Wahlberg, then, on Wahlberg's deathbed, he gives's him the 7th key, filled with the Jesus Blood, and intrusts him to be it's protector, or so called "Demon Knight". Also, we get to see some nipples at some point.

I think it'll turn out that John Leguizamo is actually tagging along with Marky Mark because he envies his family and wants to get him killed and then take position as father figure, but then it winds up where he gets killed in the storm or whatever, thus making the natural disaster the only thing that could have saved Mark Mark's life even though it killed millions of others. It's touching really.

Mark Wahlberg is actually in an insane asylum for killing his family; an act he doesn't recall. Leguizamo is really the orderly who is providing the meds that create Wahlberg's imagined "natural disaster." Oh, and he's the real killer of Marky Mark's family.

And Shyamalan plays a small role as a doctor.
Or a janitor.
Or a rabbit.
