Jul 16 2007I'm Not There Clip
As much as I try, I can't take Todd Haynes' Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There seriously. Having several actors (like Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and Heath Ledger) play Dylan sounded interesting, but this clip with Cate Blanchett as the songster and David Cross as Allen Ginsberg is lost on me. All I can see is Blanchett doing a goofy impression of Bob Dylan and Tobias Funke riding around with a beard, and in this case it's not his wife.

Cate Blanchett huh? You should have posted this on your sister site, "Iwatchmuff.com". But seriously, I never get tired of watching david cross do anything.

This movie is going to suffer from if-you-don't-like-it-you're-too-stupid-to-get-Dylan. This looks pretentious as hell. On paper it seemed cool, but now...

I originally thought this was a really interesting concept, and I was looking forward to hearing more about it as it was getting closer to coming out.
BUT, after seeing this, the acting is f'ing HORRENDOUS.
"Hey, hey isn't that what's-his-name, the poet, Ginsberg?"
"Allen Ginsberg? ... oh my god! It is!"
Is this a f'ing student film???
I'll take my $10.50 and go by a six-pack.

Actually, Cate Blanchett is playing all of those characters in car -- Todd Hayne's just wasted a ton of money on a black and white remake of Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" video.

Mmm, obnoxiously pretentious nostalgic baby-boomer circle jerk fest, so hot right now.

Cross looks supremely uncomfortable saying his dialouge. Hilarious.

gahhhhhhhh. no. david cross should stick to comedy, where its ok for him to be painfully awkward
