Jul 10 2007Get Smart Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for the remake of '60s classic Get Smart has been released, leaving me at a loss as to how to best express my outrage at what they've done with it. It appears Steve Carell has sorrowfully reached the Jim Carrey level of stardom where he's given scripts that include pages of "Steve acts funny, etc."

I guess I should wait until the full trailer to completely shit on this, but I'm at least going to wipe with it for a while.

EDIT: I put up the YouTube version for easier viewing.

well, i don't have anything sarcastic/mean to say. it looks quite delicious!

I was actually thinking the same thing Vink...I am not one to disagree with our gracious host, but I disagree with our gracious host.
Granted the movie is still going to be Get Smart for crying out loud, how good do you want it to be? I would say that on scale of remakes, this will rank in the upper half...considering how terrible some of them have been.

Also, I am not yet ready to give up on Steve Carrell. Evan Almighty = terrible, sure, but this does not seem ridiculously bad. He can't be compared to Jim Carey until he comes out with a couple of terrible comedies as well as a couple of dramas BEGGING for an Oscar nom. THen we can compare him to Carey.

I don't find the trailer. Is it gone, or am I missing something?

I couldn't get it there either, I went above my laziness and searched it on YouTube "Get Smart Teaser" and voila!

Conceited Hipster, once you click the picture above you need to click Trailers & Clips on the left-hand menu.

It looks pretty good, considering the trailer doesn't show us much; it got a giggle out of me when he threw the phone at that guy. Like Escape Monotony said, it IS Get Smart, after all. I'm more concerned about Anne Hathaway and The Rock than anything else.

I think this looks awesome! I'm also glad to see Ken Davitian (Azamat from Borat) in this movie. I met him and he was a really nice and funny guy, he deserves to be in more movies.
I've been dying for this movie for years as I remember watching and loving Get Smart when I was a kid. it'll be great!

my necklace broke in the subway station on sunday night like that beaded curtain. that's the only thing i can think of to say about that trailer. uninspired.

I've been expecting a Get Smart remake for awhile, and we finally have an actor that can pull off that lovable idiot. Even with a weak story Leslie Nielsen pulled off a great Mr. Magoo that keeps you chuckling the whole way through.

Well, it keeps to the spirit of the original.
