Jul 20 2007Gavin Hood to Direct Wolverine

Gavin had mixed feelings; he'd never before won an award and passed a kidney stone on the same day.

Gavin Hood has been announced as the director of Wolverine, the X-Men spinoff starring Hugh Jackman. Hood is a dirty South African best known for writing and directing Tsotsi. I haven't seen Tsotsi, so I can't really speak to his competence as a director, but I do know that Afrikaans sounds really silly.

X-Men 3 director Brett Ratner was originally attached to the project, but split with producers after insisting Wolverine be played by Chris Tucker. I also saw him kick a pigeon once. True story.

Dropping Ratner from the project ups the film's watchability 300%.

Holy fucking racism, Batman.

"I also saw him kick a pigeon once. True story."

But did he let the pigeon drive the bus?

well played squeaky wheel. as a parent with a 5yr old..well played

Why do you refer to Gavin Hood "dirty"? As for his competence as a director....Tsotsi is an excellent movie (one would hope that the best Oscar for foreign language film would prove this). As for Afrikaans sounding "silly", so does English A-hole!!!

Doos!!

Thanks, poes.

Tipies, iemand se iets negatief teenoor afrikaans en die afrikaaners reageer deur die persoon 'n doos en 'n poes te noem...

Way to go guys, 10 points for representing our culture and breaking the stereotype!

"I do know that Afrikaans sounds really silly". What a "silly" comment to make! I am also a Afrikaans person that lives in South Africa - I am a born South African and I am very proud to say that Afrikaans is a rich language - also the language that most of the people speak in South Africa. The Afrikaans people are proud people and please don't say those silly things again. Gavin Hood was a good English actor in my country but is still South African even he lived in America now. People that can't say good things about others shouldn't say anything at all. Don't make me angry!
