Jul 27 2007First Stills from The Eye

Bloody Disgusting got the first shots of Jessica Alba in yet another Japanese Asian horror remake, The Eye. While a woman screaming into an oven is probably one of the weakest, and possibly most misogynistic, images they could show, I'm grateful it's not some ghastly pale kid in mascara like I assume will be in every one of these remakes.
The Eye tells the story of a woman (Alba) that finds she can see into a supernatural world after receiving an eye transplant. She should be lucky she didn't get Jerry Orbach's eyes, which, of course, allow one to see wisecracks through crime scenes.
One more under the cut.

The Eye is Chinese, not Japanese, which is probably why she is yelling into an oven and not fighting Asian goth children.

"And this voice said 'Zuul.' And then I slammed the [oven] door and I left."

"Alright, who pooped in my oven?!!!!!!!????!?! You've ruined my Shepherd's Pie!!!!!"

Actually, I'm pretty sure The Eye is Thai.
Anyway, it was middling. More like the Sixth Sense than the Ring. You think that just because you put a ghost on screen, people will scream....
And this has been in development for years. I think Renee Zellwegger was supposed to play Alba's role at one point.
Oblig: sweet, sweet Alba

If I remember correctly, it's from Hong Kong. I seem to remember the dialogue being mostly in Cantonese. The end of the movie took place in Thailand. It also sucked in general. I heard it was ultra-creepy and I just ended up getting bored. My mom even got bored watching it and she's scared of everything.

It is a chinese film but the 2 brothers who directed are thai living in hong kong.

The Eye 2 was much better than the first. Contains the creepiest scene I've ever seen in asian horror, aside from "kitty-kitt-kitty" in Audition. The jumpers.
Yeah, the first had a lot of fade out shots toward the end and it became like, "Christ when is this over!"

Asians are also creepier and more believable than pretty faces in American remakes.

The bulb in the new adult size Easy Bake Oven was a lot stronger than expected.

I had the misfortune of being employed as a script analyst for a while and had the double misfortune of reading this thing...it's about as big a hunk of crap you can possibly imagine. Combine that with the fact that you know Jessica won't do nudes and you have a bore fest supreme.

It seems more like she's screaming into the oven out of frustration than fear.
"THIS IS THE SECOND ROAST I'VE BURNT TONIGHT! I AM GOING TO STAB MY EYE OUT IF IT DOESN'T COOK PROPERLY!!"
And then she burnt the third, hence the eye transplant.

The Eye is a pretty decent movie. Angelica Lee is really good. It's a shame they're replacing her with Jessica Alba. She's a beautiful girl, but not much of an actress. The scene in the elevator doesn't look as tension filled as the original... though it is just a still. Maybe I'm being a little prejudiced.

Fuck asians. they're creepy and they all look exactly alike. you think you're cool mr. slanty eyed freak?

I freaking LOVED The Eye and The Eye 2. I'm so tired of them remaking all these Asian horror movies, though. The originals are fine, and the remakes all suck, when will they get the hint?!
Creepiest scene in The Eye for me was the elevator scene, holy crap. I --still-- think about that whenever I'm in an elevator by myself. *shudder*
