Jul 17 2007A Truce - Michael Moore/CNN Update

USA Today is running this story under the headline "Moore calls truce with CNN over 'Sicko'". The rest of the story makes it sound more like it was "agree to disagree" than a truce, persay, but it does point out a few errors in CNN's fact-checking of Moore's movie that I posted last week. See also the YouTube clip of the incident above.

In Gupta's report, CNN had said that Moore had reported that Cuba spends $25 per person for health care. In fact, the movie estimates Cuba's spending at $251 per person. CNN blamed a transcription error for its mistake and apologized for it on and off the air.

Oops. Take that CNN, smarmy jerks. Think they're "real journalists" because they wear pants and leave the house even when they're not out of disposable wet wipes. There are a couple other points of contention regarding the report, but the difference between $25 and $251 was easiest to wrap my booze addled brain around. Hope you understand.

Once again, Michael Moore has an incredible opportunity in a mass forum to change opinions of the public and potential leaders who may be watching the program. But then again, he comes across sounding like a big bumbling idiot with his only saving grace being able to recite numbers from studies.

I'm not saying I'm taking CNN's side, but Moore just sounds like a douchebag.

Michael Moore is a dishonest, propogandizing, jelly-filled man. The reason the only one that makes sense is the "$25 vs. $251" part is because that's Moore's only real criticism of the report. All the other "inaccuracies" he cited were accurate.

The reporter actually talked to a Republican? Oh, heaven forfend! I suppose we can assume that the report is factually inaccurate based on the fact that they actually got a response from someone who used to work for Republicans. And if that's Moore's definition of "honest reporting," then I guess that explains his movies.

Michael Moore makes entertaining (but non-substantive) movies, but him criticizing CNN for inaccuracy or bias is like Michael Moore criticizing Richard Simmons for having bacon grease in his beard.

It's "per se" not "persay"

Glad you guys are here and all...and I agree with you both...but where were you last week when it was the entirity of the forum readers versus me?

Hope you all stick around!
