Jun 7 2007Tyler Perry to Direct Fourth Film I Probably Won't See

This much I do know; Gabrielle Union is hot.

Tyler Perry, a guy whose previous three movies (as director) have grossed $200 million worldwide and sold 15 million DVDs who has somehow managed to stay off my radar, will soon be directing the film adaptation of his stage play, Meet the Browns.

Much in the vein of "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Madea's Family Reunion," Perry's "Meet the Browns" is about a single mother who rediscovers the joys of family and the possibility of second chances when meeting the fun-loving family of her father, whom she never knew.

Honestly, does anyone know anything about this guy? It's like black folks have this whole secret world of entertainment that I know nothing about. It's like he's the black Larry the Cable Guy. Except, you know, probably not as much of a douchebag (but really I'm just guessing here).

Perry is the anti-Bruckeimer. Neither is funny.

He's just a shitty black playwright. I don't think he's the "anti-Bruckheimer," he just writes black plays and movies for black people.

I haven't ever seen any of his shit, so I can't speak to how bad it is, but I can speak to how absurdly popular he is. I managed a Blockbuster up until last year and his movies/movies of his plays were almost always rented out.

His movies are all horrible pro-family garbage.

Black Woman is repressed.

Black Woman sees family down South.

Black Woman finds herself.

The End.

Wow, you can just feel the racism in the room. what a buncha pricks.

Go to hell U facist assholes his stuff is good just cause u were abused as a kid and now mentaly fucked thats ur deal not his. So stay in ur repressed faggy moods n wish someone loved u.

pricks

I haven't seen any of his plays, movies or this television show.
Some of my friends really like his stuff and highly recommends his work.

I'm pretty much staying away from the plays, although I hear they're great places to meet women. The movies appear very formulaic, add comedy and sprinkle an uplifting message. Definitely not high art or a compelling stories, Perry keeps everything simple and that's why he generate Hollywood dollars. He's made a few million off his plays.

Think Bollywood with different themes, some specific ethnic-cultural stereotypes without the excessive musicals.
