Jun 8 2007I Am Legend Trailer
As a follow-up to yesterday's crappy poster, here's the trailer to I Am Legend. In Will Smith's latest vehicle--the first vehicle to which he hasn't said, "Damn, I gotta get me one a'these!"--we're meant to believe the Fresh Prince is a "brilliant scientist" left alone after a plague wipes out New York. Then he fights some vampires.
The first half of the trailer looks like it's just the scenes with Smith's family in Independence Day, while the rest seems bent on us thinking he looks cool working out, playing golf, and driving a nice car. Couldn't we get at least a glimpse of a vampire? Even a shot of a goth kid would be better than the two minutes of sports and leisure we get. It's like he's selling post-apocalyptic New York as a vacation resort.

It's a remake of Omega Man!

I never read I Am Legend but I will before seeing this. The movie looks interesting to say the least.

This movie would have been much better with Arnold Schwarzeneggar in it as originally planned. Noo, he had to become governer.

I'll see it. Whoever thought some jackass from In Living Color would win an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles? That always gives me some hope. I always liked the story and Omega Man had a nice cheese-factor to it, so I'm obligated by sadomasochistic gluttony to see this.

And no, that last comment isn't meant to imply I can't tell the difference between Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, and other black men. Just saying, shitty tv shows past-lives doesn't mean some actors can't occasionally do well.

this seems just a little to similar to 28 days later, only with vampires. can hollywood not come up with one single, little bitty idea on their own without stealing it from what is likely better made, better looking british movie? i can't imagine the empty city shot of a crappy cgi times square will look anywhere as graphic and compelling at 28 days shots of london(with the near same camera work no less).

oh and i am not saying it will or won't follow the book, just that with the shots in the trailer at least, the look and feel of it is too similar to 28 days later. i obviously can't say about the story line, i haven't read the book and i don't know what has been included in this remake of it.

Barry is 100% right about this one. For those of you who think this is too similar to 28 Days Later, go see Omega Man. This movie has literally the EXACT same plot as Omega Man. I love the originality that Hollywood studios come up with.
Oh, and Omega Man was an absolutely awful movie, so this one should be great!
P.S. If you dont want to actually watch Omega Man, its about a guy who is the last person on earth who is stranded in a big city. The only other living things left is a huge hoard of vampires that he has to constantly fight. Yippee.

1. actually, "Omega Man" was based on the 1954 book "I am Legend", so all three are the same.

Aren't you all forgetting "The Last Man on Earth" starring Vincent Price from 1964.
Good, not great, but infinitely better than this remake could ever be.

Jacko is right. The original book "I Am Legend" was the first to feature any kind of "zombie take-over". I use that term loosely because, well, they're not *really* zombies.
Anywho.
Vincent Price did the best job of transferring I Am Legend to film so far. The Omega Man was just a cheesy action flick that didn't pretend it was anything else. This looks like it's trying to get the vibe of I Am Legend right.
I remember reading the script and thinking these guys had nailed it... but I have to admit that the Fresh Prince obtaining the leading role has made me a little nervous. Still, the trailer looks like they'll be doing a good job.

Oh i remember reading about this like a year or so ago. Interesting to finally see what they're doing with it. And what i remember, don't quote me on this; But i remember hearing that Johnny Depp is suppose to be the head master Vampire,(the first 1 infected). so ya, thought u would like that lil tidbit. Well peace guys. J/c

Gigga, gigga I am legend.

I'm rather iffy about this. I agree it reminds me of ID4 a bit, but I willing to see how this adaptation turns out. I rather liked the "Last man on Earth", except for the ending. I felt the original book ending gave the entire book some weight. I'll have to give Omega Man a look up because outside of this the only other reference to "I am Legend" was Night of the Living Dead.

Of course they aren't going to show a vampire. It's a TEASER. Not the full trailer.
You (as in the guy who posted this and not all the people who are commenting) seem biased right from the start.
And c'mon guys, the Fresh Prince of Bell Air was YEARS ago. It's not like you call Johnny Depp Mr. 21 Jump Street.

I'm really happy Will Smith did this remake of the Last Man on Earth.
I'm so impatient to watch this movie!

My boyfriend is gonna be so sad that his favorite book got turned into a Will Smith movie.

I cant believe this . . . first I see a trailer for Captivity (a Hostel/Saw ripoff) and then a trailer for the Invasion (a Body Snatcher ripoff) and then this piece of shit (a ripoff of Omega Man). Then they bitch and moan about how piracy is ruining their industry. Wake up assholes! It's the lack of any original, creative ideas that is ruining your industry! Why would people want to pay to see a movie they have seen before? What about DOOM, that hasn't been re-made yet? Better yet do a remake of Showgirls, maybe it wasn't crappy enough the first time around . . .
