May 29 2007"Fido" Trailer - Yay or Nay?

..brains at every single meal, why can't we have some guts!"
How could I not watch a trailer with a description like this?:
Welcome to Willard, a small town lost in the idyllic world of the 50’s, where the sun shines every day, everybody knows their neighbor, and rotting zombies deliver the mail. Years ago, the earth passed through a cloud of space dust, causing the dead to rise with a craving for human flesh. A war began, pitting the living against the dead. In the ensuing revolution, a corporation was born: ZomCon, who defeated the legions of undead, and domesticated the zombies, making them our industrial workers, our domestic servants - a productive part of society. ZomCon would like the people of Willard to believe they have everything under control... but do they?
Anyway, check out the trailer over at Yahoo. I can't tell if it's going to be awesome or a bad Shaun of the Dead ripoff. Either way, I'm pretty sure it's based on the true story of the rise of Kinko's.

I've seen it in limited release in Montreal. The movie is funny, and somehow gives off a charming, sincere feeling. I liked it, but it wasn't Shawn of the Dead... It's more of a tongue-in-cheek homage to 50's family movies, with zombies thrown in.
Wouldn't say it's insanely good, but I'm glad movies such as this exist. It's different and it's fun.

Looks "Yay!" to me.

i've seen the movie. the plot is all over the place and the acting was incredibly wooden. yes, it was going for an exaggerated 50's "leave it to beaver" style performances, but it falls short of clever satire and into the swamp of cheesy spoof.
so, in conclusion: it sucks.

Saw it at the Toronto Film festival Very funny spoof of zombie movies.

Looks like a nice metaphore of exploitation (slavery or illegal immigrants)

Fejack:
Meta-what? Dude, I'm pretty sure it's about zombies...

Just saw it. Definitely a yay.
If you're a gamer, its almost like Fallout, with a G rating. Sorta.
And, if you really warp your mind... If Shaun of the Dead was set back in time and was what happened instead of WW2, this movie is what happened *after* that in the USA. No, really.
But no, you can't compare it to Shaun. Shaun was a horror-comedy. This is a... well... I can't call it a spoof, or anything. It just happens to have zombies.
