May 17 2007Elijah Wood To Play Iggy Pop
Elijah Wood is now confirmed to be taking on the role of punk rocker Iggy Pop in an upcoming biopic, reports Variety. Pop fans will surely be nearly as excited to hear about this little twerp playing their idol as they were when they heard "Lust for Life" in that commercial for Club Med.
I'm sorry, Elijah, but you just don't have enough of that gangling, muscular, strung-out look needed to frighten me the way Iggy does. But on the plus side, this is probably the only time not looking like Iggy Pop will ever be considered a negative.

Not even moodily leaning on a grafittied wall helps edge-ify. Maybe it's the goin-to-the-junior-high-dance shirt that ruins the attempt. I can picture his mom helping tuck it into the back of his pants.

Sometimes I can't tell when you're joking. Because this is a joke, right? Ha ha, hilarious! Frodo as Iggy Pop. It *must* be some sort of shenanigan. Clearly we're all going to have a good laugh and then they'll cast Justin Theroux. (Or, you know, if they're going for "names," Christian Bale when he was in that Machinist movie and weighed eight pounds.) Ha ha ha, right? Elijah's clearly too busy doing "Flipper 3" or some arthouse movie where he wears comical eyeglasses.

The day that "The Passenger" comes out all these critics will eat their words!
Elijah has a broad range when it comes to what kind of character he can play. If you know his work, you know this already. The critics that think this will be a flop are the ones that clearly have not done their home work.
In "Sin City", he amazed everyone with how frightening he could be. Critics ate their words then and they will again when they see just how talented this young man is.

I must agree, Nora, Elija has great range, and he fully gave me the wiggins in Sin City. To be honest, though, he's creeped me out in most of him movies, to varying degrees, whether or not it was intended. It's those eyes!

Not that you care, I'm sure, but it was commercials for Royal Carribean Cruise Line that used a highly edited version of Lust for Life.

Isn't it amazing that although Justin Theroux is gorgey, he could probably pull off Iggy? He's got my vote. Or maybe Johnny Borell? If he could act.
