Apr 13 2007Jurassic Park IV Gets New Director

Jurassic Park III director Joe Johnston won't be returning for the fourth film, which deserves at least three frownie faces: ;-( ;-( ;-(
This has sparked rumors that Steven Spielberg might be back to direct.
So wait, Jurassic Park IV? What's the plot of this one, exactly? The velociraptors have a midlife crisis and buy Harleys? The tough but fair T-Rex moves to the inner city to coach a black swim team?
The only thing we can say for sure at this point is that one of the dinosaurs will wear sunglasses and rap.

Have we learned nothing from the past? Movie franchises don't fair well once they get past the trilogy mark. Honestly, it could be done and would be great if it happened but I PRAY (even though I'm not a holy man) that this one doesn't become the first! However, having said the above, it's automatically disqualified because not all 3 JP's were good.

My man F Shine has a point. The good folks at JP need look no further than other franchises in the Dinosaur genre. I mean, The Land Before Time series was awesome at first, but by part MCCXVII, I was like, okay, now we're just treading water.

If we look to the past, this will be the best one ever. Movies get better as the sequels increase, it's simple math; 3 is bigger than 4, therefore better. Just look at Jaws, The Matrix, Robocop, Rambo, Weekend at Bernie's, House Party, Species...oh, never mind.

There was a rumor a long while back that one proposed premise for JP4 would have dinos who were evolving into humanoid form -- I kid you not.

This was my first great laugh of the day. Thanks, frownie faces.

They should abandon this idea. What is needed is a serious untertaking of a 'land of the lost' type thing. Time travelers stuck back then, and basically f*#ked.

Theme song "It's hard our here for a Dino". I think this could be huge, in the Sally Stuthers style of HUGE.

Wait, you mean that movie with Matthew Broderick, Hank Azaria and a giant lizard attacking New York that came out a bunch of years ago wasn't titled "Jurassic Park IV: Lizard Takes Manhattan"?
