Skinwalkers Poster and Trailer
In Skinwalkers, two rival werewolf families war over a boy and his mother. If that isn't stupid enough, the trailer wasn't able to convince me anyone actually turned into a wolf. The werewolf fights were composed of driving motorcycles and shooting at each other. In fact, it may have been an episode of the early-'90s action series Renegade with werewolf lines overdubbed.

When I first saw this poster, I says to myself, "This must be a British film, because girlfriend up there in the picture is in dire need of some orthodontia."
Then I realized I was being insensitive and falling back on tired, offensive cliches. This movie may not be British at all, you know? Russians have bad teeth, too.

The WB doesn't even exist any more and still its stars are in crappy horror movies every other week...how does this happen?

looks like Near Dark for the 21st century, except, you know, without all that cult-y goodness.
or any goodness for that matter.

Skinwalkers are from Navajo mythology. They were supernatural creatures that would climb to the roof of a families hogan and sprinkle ground human bone down the smoke hole, killing the family inside. I saw a little Native American iconography in the trailer, but I'm guessing the title is the only authentic bit of Navajo culture to survive the script pitch.

The word "Skinwalker" is just one of many terms for beings able to become animals in world mythology, just like "werewolf" is from the German variation, and "Loup Garou" is from the French... the film doesn't claim to be about Navajo witches any more than the werewolves in "The Howling" claimed to be German. In fact, since "skinwalkers" is an English translation of the Navajo word, there's no point in taking the title so literally.
Oh, and I think "Skinwalkers" looks like a lot of fun... but then I have this silly habit of watching films BEFORE I decide if they're good or bad...
