Milli Vanilli: The Movie
Remember Milli Vanilli? They were a pair of dudes, possibly German, who pretended to record music in the late '80s. They were given a Grammy Award and praised for having defined abs and fashionably braided hair. Their career pretending to record music ended tragically when fate decided to expose that they were pretending to record music in the funniest and most degrading way it could imagine. Rob (Milli?) would later die of a drug overdose, likely caused by reflecting on being Milli. Well, Universal Pictures is making this sadly true tale into a movie. Go figure.
Milli Vanilli Fact: This news disrupts Earth's natural timeline of never hearing from Milli Vanilli again, throwing future events into chaos. Who will save our world now?
Answer: Vanilli.

The thing I've never understood about the whole Milli Vanilli dustup is that the music itself actually existed. Sure, it was pop pap. but, a couple of the songs were huge hits and were awarded grammies.
Whether or not the frontmen were really the singers (they weren't), the music itself was real - i.e., it existed, was a hit, and was awarded grammies. Yet, people like to pretend that once the fronment were uncovered as being fake, the music itself was also fake.
What am I missing? It's like when people learned Vanilla Ice was really the gangster he claimed to be, all of a sudden his music was no longer listened to. What does one really have to do with the other? If you liked the music, you liked the music, regardless of his "gangster" bona fides.
Wierd, wierd stuff.

Correction on above - when people learned Vanilla Ice was NOT really the gangster he claimed to be

The sad part is, they always focus on Milly, never on Vanilli.
The world needs more Vanilli.

I remember them. I never got into their music. But did enjoy the scandal. Pity one of them died.
