Sep 22 2006Chris Cornell's Casino Royale Title Song is Best of '95
Chris Cornell's title song from Casino Royale has been released, giving us plenty of time to forget it by spring. To hear how bad it is, I suggest watching the above clip where the song has been merged with the trailer footage, successfully transforming the big-budget film into an episode of Baywatch. There's a reason there are so many Soundgarden CDs in the used section of your record store.

Seriously, you're gonna nail Chris Cornell for this one? That's a bit simple. Like anything could save this worthless movie. They could have resurrected BACH and commissioned a symphony for the title track to this film and it would still be a turd. Soundgarden was a great band, but Chris Cornell, not the right choice for a Bond theme composer. I expected less of Sheryl Crow and Madonna, but both of their themes worked out pretty well to my ears. This...well. It's trash. But not because Soundgarden was a bad band or Chris Cornell is a bad musician, but because grunge rock and Bond go together almost as well as Daniel Craig and not looking like a neanderthal man.

This song was rejected for the Rocky IV training montage in the Russian mountains.
