Aug 1 2006The Dark Knight With Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin?
More Batman news! Does the movie have a title? Yes! It's The Dark Knight, bro! Is Heath Ledger officially The Joker? Sure! Is Philip Seymour Hoffman willing to play The Penguin!? Maybe! (says Batman on Film):
It seems Nolan has been listening to you guys when it comes to casting his other villain, however. I can confirm that an offer has been made to Phillip Seymour Hoffman for the role. Yet Hoffman has indicated that he may not get involved in the sequel.
As much as I like Philip Seymour Hoffman, he almost seems too obvious. When you're picking sort of a pudgy little guy for The Penguin, there aren't that many choices in Hollywood. The beautiful and famous tend to hate fatties. So, in case Philip Seymour Hoffman rejects the role, I'd like to be the first to congratulate Jason Alexander on winning the role of The Penguin by default. Sorry, Louie Anderson.

If Penguin absolutely has to be in a batman movie and they absolutely want a name, it should be Paul Giamatti. I think he's half penguin on his father's side anyway.

Hoffman already played a villain in MI:III.
Besides, does this movie really need two villains? It's already starting to go the road of the other Batman movies.

well, praz, the last batman movie had three villains or four or even five villains, if you count the fake Ra's: Ra's Al Guhl/Henri Ducard, Ra's Al Guhl/Notreallyhim, Scarecrow, Falcone, and Rutger Hauer's character. So, uh, two villains is actually cutting it down a bit.
By the way, Praz, Ghetto Superstar is one of my favorite songs of all time. Well done.

Although I meant super-villains, your point still stands.
Anyways I really liked that song, but that's not where I got my sign-in name from.

Penguin probably won't be "The Penguin" in this film. I predict he won't become a supervillain until the third film. (Penguin's real name is Oswald Cobblepot, and the Cobblepot and Wayne families share history together.) So Hoffman might have to commit to two films, and he may not want to do that.

I think that the Joker's a great choice, but I wouldn't want the Penguin to be in there as well. Two gimmicky dapper characters getting a darker makeover- no. If the Joker's in there, he'll be scary, and it would be nice to have a real freak in there with him. I'd love to see the original, less reptilian Killer Croc on screen. A giant Mike Tyson thug covered in scales who feels no pain. The Joker can be a little cerebral, but Croc- Croc just breaks shit and bites people.

How about a Bane that doesn't suck? There's a novel idea.

Drew Carey FTW.

I would like to Jack Black as The Penguin. Im pretty sure this is not gonna happen since if there is a 3rd one it looks like it will feature Two-Face as the main villain.
Ive heard rumors that The Penguin and The Riddler will both make cameo appearances in The Dark Knight. Anyone hear anything about that?
