The Descent One-Sheet

descent-poster.jpg

A new poster for The Descent is out, from the studio that brought you Saw and Hostel. I hear it's "the best horror-thriller since Alien." From the poster, this looks to be the scariest movie ever set in an Ocean Spray commercial.

The previous one-sheet was sexier.

This movie is, well, quite terrible.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but here's a synopsis:

A group of extremely obnoxious British women (one with a "tormented past") get together in the US so that they can bond by exploring a previously unexplored cave. Horrible things happen. Approx. one hour commences in which there is nothing but extremely obnoxious British women screaming in terror. The end.

Also there are some creepy things, but nothing we haven't already seen if you've seen "Rubber Johnny" (if I recall the title correctly).

Seriously. This movie is rubbish, and anyone who could possible compare it to "Alien" has seriously got to get their heads checked out because it is NOTHING like Alien. Seriously, I don't even really like Alien (nor find it scary), but Alien is so far ahead of this film that it's not even funny.

This is just a silly slasher flick with some caves and albino cave people in it, along with a bunch of annoying screaming women.

"from the studio that brought you Saw and Hostel."? now that is fucking LAME. even for marketing execs. how far did they have to go to link this film (which i've heard good buzz about; although i'll be taking amiantos' comments into consideration - and it is a Neil Marshall film. i couldn't get through Dog Soldiers) with the last two buzzed horror films? as far as i know studios don't create films (other than meddle with them to make them more audience-friendly) - they finance and distribute them.

how about "From the studio that brought you Fahrenheit 9/11 and Madea's Family Reunion"?

sorry about the rant:)

I just would like to say that this is a watch-able film... Not the best film ever but its not the worst film either.

Yes admittedly the characters are quite annoying but by the deaths scenes I had warmed to them slightly...

It does however have some excellent breath holding moments and if your vaguely claustrophobic you will be on the edge of your seat before the monsters even arrive!

Not really the same league as Alien, but possibly Hostel as all the characters in that were so annoying that they deserved to die...
