Feb 16 2006First Image From Power of the Dark Crystal

The first image from Genndy Tartakovsky's Power of the Dark Crystal has made its way online, showing an elderly Kira from the original film. The sequel is set hundreds of years after the first film, showing that the Gelflings age at a different rate than us, and do not, in their age, insist on wearing stretch pants and sequined shirts, like my grandma has.

The sequels are burning my eyes out.
How much money will they be able to make off of selling us back our childhoods? We should start a betting pool...

Nah, I'll be happy when this thing comes out. What with just seeing Dark Crystal for the first time recently (part of it while very, very drunk). God damn, that was a quality movie.

This should be great if they keep alot of the puppets and don't cop out by using CGI for EVERYTHING!!

Well, just from that picture it looks like they're using the same CGI technology as the first one/Conan the Barbarian. Which is to say, sparkles of light added in using Jasc animation studio.

Isn't that just one of Cher's album covers?

The first movie was a huge undertaking for it's time. There's no doubt. It just didnt feel as epic as it could have been. Hopefully this will fix that problem.
