The CG jungle animal escape movie that isn't Madagascar, The Wild, has released its new poster with the clever tagline: "Start spreading the newspaper." Because animals use newspaper as toilets. Even jungle animals. It's completely appropriate. Don't even question it.

Oooh, lemme guess: the animals escape a zoo or some cray-zeh-ass transportation device and find their way to New York, which they discover (after much hilarity and shenanigans ensue - and they probably discover the nature of true friendship somewhere along the way) is too much of a jungle for them to live in (you know, all them predatorial go-getters and fast-moving cars and animal instincts).

We all nod and smile because we all know that mankind has beaten Mother Nature and created something way, way scarier than her pussy little attempts at "The Wild".

Chris Rock will do a voice ('cause he always does), the film will attempt to boost its credibility by getting a strapped-for-cash English screen legend to do a voice (like Alan Rickman as a world-weary blind guide dog, or Dame Maggie Smith as a pigeon), and there will be spot-the-celebrity cameos dotted throughout to keep the adults happy.

The will be Happy Meals, and the movie will make squillions in the first weekend (because it will be timed right) and newspapers will say it's "Better than Shrek!" or "Move over Nemo, the Wild gang is in town - literally!"

In short, The Wild will be the one thing that makes me glad I don't have kids yet.

I think it's William Shatner as the bad guy, Keifer Sutherland as the hero and Janeane Garofolo and Eddie Izzard as the comic relief. Also, I think the deal might be with Burger King.
